The Greek Ministry of Tourism is offering free hotel stays in 2024 to tourists evacuated from Rhodes during forest wildfires in July last year.
Holidaymakers of all nationalities are invited to apply for the initiative, ‘Rodos Week’, by registering through the programme’s website as a beneficiary and submitting an application. This can be done individually, through a travel agent or a tour operator.
The Ministry explained: “The details provided in their electronic application will be verified for accuracy and validity by the evacuated hotels and any tour operators indicated in their application.”
Beneficiaries will be granted a seven-day stay in a similarly rated hotel with a room type comparable to their original 2023 booking. The initiative runs for two periods – one in spring, from April 10 to May 31, and the other during the country’s autumn, from October 1 to November 15.
The free stay cannot be transferred to another person and does not apply to visitors who stayed in an Airbnb or other rental accommodation.
