NAMIBIA flyafrica, a
member of the
flyafrica.com family,
will launch flights between
Johannesburg and Lusaka,
using fifth traffic freedom
rights between South Africa
and Namibia, early next year.
Fifth freedom rights allows
airlines to carry passengers
from its base country (i.e.
Namibia) to a second country
(i.e. South Africa), and from
that country to a third (i.e.
Zambia), where tickets can
be sold on any sector.
Flights will commence on
February 16, with fares from
as low as R390 one way,
excluding airport taxes.
The airline has also
announced the launch of
Windhoek to Cape Town
flights from March 2. Fares
are from R699 one way.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe
flyafrica plans to launch
flights between Bulawayo and
Johannesburg from March 2.
Fares will start at R390, one
way, excluding airport taxes.
The airline also plans
to launch domestic flights
between Victoria Falls
and Harare, with flights
commencing on
December 1. One way fares
are from US$39 (R390),
excluding taxes of around
US$15 (R169).
Zimbabwe flyafrica
currently operates a daily
Harare-Johannesburg flight
and four flights per week
between Victoria Falls and
Johannesburg.
“Our route expansion is
in line with the delivery of
our second 737 into the
Zimbabwe flyafrica fleet”,
says Professor Chaka
Karase, ceo of Zimbabwe
flyafrica. “Our next expansion
will be into our neighbouring
countries of Mozambique,
Zambia, Tanzania and
Malawi. We are committed
to developing more routes
during 2015 and enabling
more passengers to travel
around Africa, without
having to use the traditional
path of connecting through
Johannesburg."
