Travel News reported on May 12 that Zimbabwe had removed all its remaining COVID-related restrictions, in response to the WHO’s recent declaration that COVID no longer poses a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
However, although the announcement of the removal of the restrictions was made by a Government official earlier in May, it appears the old regulations have not yet been gazetted, and therefore the old rules are still in force.
David Wood, Marketing & Product Development Director of Air Holidays, says that passengers arriving on international flights at Zimbabwean airports are being asked to provide either proof of vaccination (primary series only, boosters are not necessary), or a certificate of a negative PCR test issued within the 48 hours preceding travel.
Wood suggested that passengers be advised that the regulations are still in place until a Zimbabwe Government Gazette is issued to the contrary. Travel News will update readers at that time.
