Having restarted and then boosted its passenger services to South Africa, Emirates has now signed an interline agreement with CemAir, opening up connections to six destinations in South Africa via Emirates’ gateways of Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Two of the destinations now open to Emirates’ passengers are exclusively served by CemAir – Margate ( which serves the entire southern coast of Kwa Zulu Natal, famous for its coastal villages, warm blue seas and white beaches perfect for swimming, surfing and sunbathing); and Plettenberg Bay (the airport is temporarily not operational but should open shortly). This service provides an air gateway to the most fashionable town on the Garden Route.
This marks the first partnership between the two airlines, and it allows the convenience of single ticket itineraries with onwards booking and baggage transfers through Johannesburg and Cape Town to Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Margate, Durban, Hoedspruit, Plettenberg Bay, George and Sishen.
Adnan Kazim, chief commercial officer, Emirates said: “We are proud to partner with CemAir and commence our interline agreement."
Miles van der Molen, ceo of CemAir said: “As we continue our expansion during the post-COVID recovery period we realise that now, more than, ever partnerships are key to our success. Working with market leaders like Emirates Airline is a further demonstration of our commitment to our customers to provide the best service and value.”
