Penny Maestrami, senior
counsellor at The South
African Depression and
Anxiety Group (SADAG), told
TNW the owner needed a
vet clearance certificate
with details of the animal’s
inoculations, how long
the owner has known the
animal and the length of
time the animal is capable
of being an ESA, as well as
a document signed by an
animal behaviourist stating
that basic animal training
has been done. Finally,
the passenger needs a
letter signed by a medical
health professional
confirming that the owner
needs an ESA.
