Discover Airlines, owned by the Lufthansa Group, will launch a direct flight between Munich and Windhoek on April 1 next year.
The airline is expanding its long-haul operations from its new base in Munich and will be the only carrier offering a direct service between the cities.
The flight will operate year-round on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Terminal 2 at Munich Airport. Times and days for return flights have not yet been announced.
Until now, the airline has offered only short- and medium-haul services from the airport. In addition to Windhoek, Discover will also launch flights to Orlando, Florida, and Calgary, Canada.
“The expansion of our operations in Munich is an important milestone for us. With this step, we are consistently focusing on our goal of expanding Lufthansa’s offering at the two major German hubs. With our three new long-haul destinations we are doing just that as they have never been accessible by direct flights from Munich before or were last accessible many years ago,” said Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines.
