South African travellers will soon have another way of reaching the US, via Brazil, as LATAM Airlines will begin a nonstop flight between São Paulo (GRU) and Los Angeles (LAX) on July 1, 2023.
Also in July 2023, LATAM is scheduled to resume its commercial route between GRU and Johannesburg.
The GRU-LZX flight will have an initial frequency of three times a week using a 410-seat Boeing 777 aircraft. It will take off from São Paulo at 23h05 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving at Los Angeles at 07h00 the next day.
Flights will depart from Los Angeles at 13h00 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and arrive in São Paulo at 05h20 the next day.
Delta and LATAM are also adding 23 000 weekly roundtrip seats to their regular itineraries to connect North and South America next year. There will be an increase in frequencies on Santiago-Los Angeles, São Paulo-Orlando, Lima-Miami, Lima-New York, and Lima-Los Angeles flights operated by LATAM.
Delta will offer more seats on Atlanta-Santiago de Chile, Atlanta-Lima, New York-São Paulo, Atlanta-São Paulo, Atlanta-Rio de Janeiro, Miami-Orlando, and Miami-Los Angeles flights.
This is the first operational announcement after the approval of LATAM’s Joint Venture agreement with Delta Air Lines last September.
