Cruise Saudi has taken delivery of World Dream, the vessel it purchased from the administrators of the now defunct Genting Hong Kong.
The vessel has been renamed Manara and was re-registered with the new home port of Majuro in the Marshall Islands, reports The Maritime Executive.
Singapore had assumed jurisdiction of the World Dream in May 2022 while liquidators attempted to settle matters around mega-corporation, Genting Hong Kong, (including its subsidiary, the three-ship Dream Cruises), which had collapsed into bankruptcy in January 2020.
CEO of Cruise Saudi, Lars Clasen, said the ship would undergo a refurbishment.
Cruise Saudi on its website describes itself as working towards becoming a world class cruise port and cruise line operator driving the development of destination experiences to build a thriving cruise sector in Saudi. Its mission is to support the diversification of the Saudi economy and growth of the tourism sector.
