The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) system, which sends out Notams for pilots to check before they fly, has failed and all flights across the US were grounded today (Wednesday, January 11).
Flights are expected to remain grounded until 09h30am EST (16h30 South African time).
A Notice to Air Missions (Notam) alerts pilots about closed runways, equipment outages, and other potential hazards along a flight route or at a location that could affect the flight.
