LOW-COST airline,
FlySafair, is now issuing
tickets on its own stock
in all three major GDSs,
under the designation
FA-640.
The airline started
distributing its inventory
through Amadeus in 2017,
with tickets issued on Hahn
Air Systems’ ticket stock.
In December last year,
FlySafair began distributing
stock through Sabre and at
the same time launched on
the South African BSP-ZA,
where the airline started
to issue tickets on its own
stock, FA-640. Amadeus
followed suit in January,
and Travelport went live on
March 13.
“Issuing on our own paper
is an important move to
managing distribution costs
in the GDS environment,
which will help us to keep
an attractive fare in the
hands of the travel trade,”
says Kirby Gordon, head of
Sales and Distribution at
FlySafair.
Kirby says it’s important
for agents to familiarise
themselves with FlySafair’s
ADM policy. “Not much
has changed, but it’s key
that agents are aware of
the details.” This policy is
available on the airline’s
website at flysafair.
co.za/trade as well as on
TravelInfo.
The new ticketing
procedure means FlySafair
will now also be accepting
Diners Club cards for
payment on the local BSP.
International sales will still
be ticketed on Hahn Air
Systems paper.
