Angola will host the 53rd Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA) Annual General Assembly. It will take place in Luanda from October 5 to 8, in collaboration with TAAG Angola Airlines.
The General Assembly will bring together key stakeholders in the industry including airlines, regulators, manufacturers, service providers, investors, diplomatic representation and government entities to network and strategise bilateral relations, as well as discuss the challenges the African aviation sector is facing.
On October 6, roundtable sessions among 200 delegates and top decisionmakers will be held to discuss the competitive environment, connectivity, financing, supply chain, operating costs, regulatory aspects, growth and the sustainability of African airlines.
AASA is a regional association that creates opportunities for African airlines south of the Equator to come together and discuss topical issues. AASA’s responsibility includes the representation of SADC-based airlines on the SADC Civil Aviation Committee as the Airline Consultative Member. AASA has 16 airline members – TAAG, Air Austral, Air Botswana, Airlink, Air Zimbabwe, Congo Airways, Eswatini Air, Federal Airlines, FlyCobra, FlySafair, LAM Mozambique Airlines, LIFT, Mango Airlines, Mozambique Express, Proflight Zambia and South African Airways.
There are also currently 35 associate members from business areas directly or indirectly related to aviation. AASA is also a regular participant and contributor to Icao and Iata initiatives in the region.
