On April 2, British Airways resumed non-stop flights to Kuala Lumpur.
This comes after a delay from the originally planned relaunch date of November 1, 2024.
The daily flight BA33 will depart London at 21h10 and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 17h20. The return flight BA34 will depart Kuala Lumpur at 22h50 and arrive in London at 05h25 the following day.
Cathay increases China flights
Cathay Pacific has increased flights between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, providing close to 300 return flights per week during the summer period.
Flights to Beijing Capital International Airport are increasing to seven daily return flights. HK Express will operate a daily flight to Beijing Daxing International Airport.
Cathay will operate eight daily return flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport and 11 return flights per week to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
Flights to Zhengzhou, Ningbo, Haikou, Chongqing will increase from four return flights per week to daily flights, with HK Express also operating daily flights to Ningbo.
Additionally, flights to Hangzhou are increasing to four return flights per day, flights to Nanjing are increasing to twice per day, flights to Wenzhou are increasing to 10 per week, and flights to Wuhan are increasing to 12 per week.
Emirates resumes second daily flight to Beirut
Emirates reinstated its second daily flight between Dubai and Beirut on April 1.
The second service, operated with a Boeing 777-300ER, will boost weekly passenger capacity by more than 5 000 seats both ways.
Flight EK957 takes off from Dubai at 07h30, arriving in Beirut at 10h35. The return flight EK958 departs from Beirut at 12h05 and will arrive in Dubai at 16h55.
Qantas launches Darwin-Singapore flights
The newest Qantas international service has taken off from Australia’s Northern Territory with the inaugural Darwin-Singapore service departing on March 30.
Adding more than 70 000 seats between Darwin and Singapore, the new service will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays on the following schedule:
- Flight QF113 departs Darwin at 14h55 and arrives in Singapore at 18h15.
- Flight QF114 departs Singapore at 19h20 and arrives in Darwin at 01h40 the following day.
The flights are operated by a Qantas Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 12 business-class and 162 economy-class seats.
Gatwick installs new security scanners
London Gatwick Airport has installed new computed tomography (CT) scanners at all 19 security gates to improve security checks.
Passengers no longer need to remove electrical items or place liquids in plastic bags during security screening.
Using 3D technology, the scanners allow travellers to leave electrical items, such as laptops, in their cabin bags.
Virgin opens LAX Clubhouse
Virgin Atlantic has unveiled a Clubhouse lounge in Los Angeles International Airport’s Tom Bradley International Terminal.
The new Clubhouse features The Ruby Room, a cinema with Bluetooth-connected wireless headsets, and The Wing, offering acoustically-sealed work pods.
Additionally, the Zen Den offers guests an immersive space featuring relaxation, movement and mindfulness sessions.
The lounge also features showers, with amenities by from Flamingo Estate’s Garden Essentials collection.
The new lounge joins the carrier’s existing lounges at Johannesburg, Heathrow, New York JFK, San Francisco and Washington DC.
