Air France KLM will increase the distribution surcharge on GDS sales from €17 (R343) to €21 (R425) from July 1.
The airline group indicated when the surcharge was implemented in 2018, that it would be reviewed. The group says the surcharge still only partially covers the GDS distribution cost.
*The distribution surcharge applies to GDS sales of AF- and KLM-marketed flights, irrespective of operating airline and point of sale. But it does not apply to sales by travel agents using Air France or KLM NDC connections.
*The GDS surcharge is applied at ticketing time, regardless of fare type, booking class, pricing programme, cabin or ticket stock.
*The surcharge will be filed and be visible in the GDS. It does not apply to groups.
The increased surcharge will apply when a new fare quote is made on or after July 1. When the historic fare quote is used for tickets issued before this date, the old €17 (R343) surcharge applies.
The two airlines say they are expanding connections to NDC and will continue to place custom content on NDC, such as continuous pricing, dynamic pricing of ancillaries and new products, including combined offers of air tickets and paid-for ancillaries.
