WITH the growth of business and
tourism in Lesotho, Maluti Sky – the
country’s first locally owned, private
airline, which launched in March
– plans to increase its flights to
Johannesburg this month.
Spokesperson, Mamotake
Matekane, says the airline
currently flies six times a week
to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo
International Airport, leaving Maseru’s
Moshoeshoe I International Airport
in the mornings and returning to
Lesotho in the afternoons. She says
it will add another daily flight in the
other direction this month, which will
depart Johannesburg in the mornings
and return in the afternoons. Both
services will be operated with 50-seat
Bombardier CRJ-200s.
Mamotake says Maluti Sky aims to
launch a direct service from Maseru
to Cape Town soon, based on good
demand for the route, especially from
the Chinese and corporate markets.
The launch date of this service has
not yet been finalised.
She says sales have picked up since
Maluti Sky tickets recently became
available on GDS (Code W2)
