Today (January 20), SAA resumed daily flights between Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The daily flight departs Johannesburg at 22h00 and arrives in Dar es Salaam at 02h30 the following day. The return flight departs Dar es Salaam at 05h10 and arrives in Johannesburg at 07h55.
Dar es Salaam is an important regional economic and logistical hub. The city acts as a gateway for popular tourist attractions in the region and is a corporate destination for South Africans, who account for a significant proportion of foreign direct investment in Tanzania.
“This flight is not simply a milestone for SAA and linking Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam through air travel; it heralds a bridge that connects two of Africa’s most influential economies,” said Professor John Lamola, SAA’s interim CEO.
Lamola added that the relaunch represented SAA’s strategic initiative to strengthen the airline’s presence across Africa. “SAA’s regional network has emerged as a top performer, contributing significantly to the revenue of the SAA Group. More importantly, these regional connections are crucial for the broader economic growth of South Africa.”
