Delta Airlines revealed its technology plans for 2025 at the opening of the annual Consumer Electronics Show on January 7, including an AI-powered travel concierge.
The travel concierge feature will be built into the Fly Delta app. The digital tool uses generative AI to act as a personal assistant to travellers.
Delta Concierge will have the ability to notify customers about upcoming passport expiry, visa requirements and provide destination-specific notifications, such as weather updates and packing advice.
It will also notify passengers with directions to guide them to bag drop, Delta Sky Clubs and their gate. The feature will additionally sync automatically to Delta WiFi on board and in-flight entertainment systems.
The Concierge feature can be engaged using natural language text or voice input. The tool will eventually be able to anticipate customer needs and take actions on the traveller’s behalf.
Delta furthermore has plans to unlock multimodal travel using this Concierge tool. The airline has partnered with Uber and an electric air taxi service, Joby, with plans for a home-to-airport transportation service in the years ahead.
