In the aftermath of Donald Trump’s re-election victory, Americans seeking a break from the political landscape can now embark on a unique, long-term voyage, so as to escape the US political landscape until the next election.
Residential cruise operator Villa Vie Residences has launched its Tour La Vie programme, offering global expeditions lasting up to four years aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey.
Dubbed the ’Skip Forward’ package, the four-year journey starts at US$255 900 (R4,6m) for a single-occupancy cabin with all-inclusive amenities, covering 425 ports across 140 countries and all seven continents.
Key highlights include visits to the Chilean fjords, Antarctica and Rio's Carnival, transits through the Panama Canal and excursions into the Amazon River.
For Americans who are not ready to commit to the full term, the programme offers shorter options such as the 1-Year Escape from Reality, 2-Year Mid-Term Selection, and 3-Year Everywhere but Home.
Despite its timing and the name of the package, Villa Vie Residences maintains that the programme is not politically motivated.
"This is about global exploration and cultural connection, not politics," said CEO of Villa Vie Residences, Mikael Petterson.
