The small island of Impalila, belonging to Namibia, and located at the point where the Zambezi and Chobe rivers meet, now has roads.
The island’s rocky terrain combined with its soft clay soil has made movement challenging in the past.
The new 25km road infrastructure development facilitates access to the island’s public institutions and accommodation. Impalila is home to several lodges, including the Ichingo Chobe River Lodge by Mantis.
