KLM has introduced its new World Business Class seats on its Boeing 777 fleet. The airline uses the B777 (among other equipment) on its Johannesburg and Cape Town routes.
The carrier’s entire B777-300 and B777-200 fleet will be fitted with the new seats as well as the latest Premium Comfort cabin, see here.
KLM was as yet unable to give details of the expected dates when these retrofitted aircraft would be rolled out onto the JNB and CPT routes
The full revamp of the business-class product will be completed during the coming year.
The new, broader seats come with a sliding door to ensure privacy and give all business-class passengers direct access to the aisle.
According to KLM, the seats are 10-15% lighter than other seats in this market segment, contributing to the airline’s sustainability goals.
Features of this new seat include:
-
A lightweight sliding door that provides direct access to the aisle;
-
Personal adjustment options and user-friendly functionality, including adjustable lower-back support and a relax setting with a back-massage feature;
-
Reclines to a fully flat 198cm-long bed;
-
Easily accessible charging sockets, as well as a wireless charging option;
-
A lockable compartment with built-in mirror for stowing belongings;
-
Recessed bottle holder on the tabletop.
