This Tourism Month, national, provincial and local tourism bodies have introduced a wide range of deals and events. Here is our breakdown of the top travel offerings being showcased across the country.
National:
SA National Parks Week
This week, from September 12-16, SANParks is giving South African residents free day visit access to a range of national parks.
Mpumalanga:
The province has put together a Tourism Month schedule that includes the annual Parks Week taking place from September 12-15, giving residents free access to 10 of the province’s nature reserves. A Tourism Awareness Day will take place in eManzana (Badplaas) on September 17, where tourism businesses and locals will showcase their products. See the full programme below.
KwaZulu Natal
The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism board is listing a number of travel deals on its website throughout the month of September. Durban Tourism is offering discounted tours to a number of the city’s heritage and cultural attractions, while the week from September 22-30 is dedicated to free, fun-filled activation activities and competitions.
Eastern Cape
Eastern Cape Tourism has listed a variety of Tourism Month Specials on its website, along with a full schedule of events. The tourism authority is also running a social media competition where the winning entrant will win a trip around the province worth R45 000.
Western Cape
The City of Cape Town and Cape Town Tourism are launching the Freedom to Wish competition, which runs from September 12-27. The initiative encourages locals to submit their ultimate bucket-list experiences in Cape Town, with the chance of winning the experience.
