In a blockbuster response to the Travel News poll last week (nearly 1 000 agents), it seems the majority of readers expect they will not be able to survive until January 2021 if international borders only open early next year.
Of the 978 respondents, 72%said they would not be able to survive, 24% said they would survive if domestic tourism opened up between August and December this year, and only 4% said they would survive the wait regardless of whether or not domestic tourism opened this year.
The poll asked agents if their businesses would survive if international borders opened in January next year (which Deputy Minister of Tourism Fish Mahlalela said was likely to happen).
