South Africans, and travellers who have been in South Africa or transited through South Africa within 14 days of departure for Hong Kong, will be required to present additional documents in order to enter Hong Kong, according to a notice issued by Cathay Pacific. South Africa is just one country on a list of states that require additional documents.
The documents include a letter or certificate issued by a laboratory or healthcare institution stating personal details and confirming negative COVID-19 test results, along with the original test.
A government certification of the testing laboratory or healthcare institution is also required, plus confirmation of a hotel room reservation in Hong Kong.
