SITUATED on 1 500 acres of privately-owned mountain and riverine bushland in the southern Drakensberg area, the upmarket Orchid Valley Lodge has opened to international tourists with an interest in gourmet cuisine.
Lodge manager and gourmet chef, Olivia Hosie, told Travel Now the lodge specialises in gourmet cuisine and offers accommodation for up to six people in three double en-suite rooms, featuring a separate lounge and dining area.
Transfers are arranged from the Underberg and are included in the rate and according to Hosie, the lodge is currently negotiating for air charters to the region as well.
"Activities include game viewing, birding, swimming in the natural pools in the 3,5km of private river frontage of the Umzimkulu River and guided hikes."
She says the lodge is also hoping to offer horse riding as soon as the horses arrive on the property.
