RAINBOW Airlines
is taking bookings
for its first HarareJohannesburg
flight,
scheduled for March 5, says
the Zimbabwean carrier’s
ceo, Ed Berry.
Ed confirmed that bookings
could only be made via the
Rainbow Airlines website but
said the airline still intended
to add its inventory to the
GDS at some point.
“We plan to start
advertising the flight in the
coming weeks but we are
happy with the number of
bookings made thus far,” he
says.
The airline was initially
expected to start flights at
the end of February (see
TNW February 8).
The airline will start with
three flights a week to
Johannesburg and aims to
increase the service to twice
daily, excluding Saturdays.
Flights will initially operate
on Sundays, Wednesdays
and Fridays, departing
Harare at 08h00 and arriving
in Johannesburg at 09h40.
The return flights will depart
Johannesburg at 19h00 and
arrive in Harare at 20h40.
Ed says the route will be
operated by a Bombardier
CRJ100, which the airline is
leasing from CemAir.
Travellers can expect to
pay from $285 (R3 707),
including taxes, return from
Johannesburg to Harare.
