The US Customs and Border Protection has announced a hike in fees for its Global Entry system for international visitors, effective October 1.
Global Entry allows pre-approved, low-risk travellers easier and faster entry into the US by bypassing processing lines and paperwork. Pre-approval entails local consulate background checks and in-person interviews.
The Global Entry fee is increasing by US$20 (R372) from the current $100 (R1 860).
