Uber has introduced a new service, Uber Shuttle, to provide transport to and from airports.
The company has conducted shuttle tests in India and for corporate clients and has now officially launched Uber Shuttle to consumers in the US.
Riders can book a shuttle that can accommodate 14 to 55 passengers up to a week before their trip. Passengers will then receive a QR code ticket allowing them to board the shuttle. The shuttle will travel from a central location to the airport for “a fraction of the cost” of a traditional UberX ride. The feature can also be used to manage delegates attending large events.
The feature will initially be rolled out in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego and Atlanta, with plans to expand the service in the future. Users will be able to tip and rate drivers as usual.
