FOLLOWING the news earlier this year that the Pretoria State Theatre - the largest and reportedly the most versatile theatre in the country - would close due to lack of funds, comes the announcement that - in a last-ditch effort to save the theatre - it will be made available for hire.
A member of the State Theatre Board of Directors, Sikki Kanjee, told Travel Now that its five venues - which range from the smallest theatre (150 people) to the largest venue which can accommodate up to 1 322 - will be available to groups or individuals up until March 31 next year.
"Prices for the venues will vary according to the length of time as well as the specific type of function. We're open to negotiation," he said.
