Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has signed an MoU with Italy’s Arsenale Group, the company behind Orient Express La Dolce Vita and other rail projects, to launch the Middle East’s first luxury train, Dream of the Desert, reports arabianbusiness.com.
The US$51million (R977m) rail project involves a five-star train that will offer well-heeled tourists in the Kingdom the opportunity to explore tourist attractions within a framework of integrated luxury transport services, according to prestigeonline.com.
The Dream of the Desert train’s first tour will operate in 2025, transporting travellers from Riyadh to Qurayyat in northern Saudi Arabia, passing Al Wassim, Hail and Al Jouf.
