With uncertainty over SAA’s future, and Voyager Miles redemptions suspended, both agents and Voyager members are unsure of what will happen to the Miles.
Voyager members received communication on May 9, stating that there would be a temporary redemption restriction until July 31, which might be extended. Now, SAA business rescue practitioners (BRPs) Les Matuson and Siviwe Dongwana have told Travel News that clarity on whether or not an extension is needed will be given on or before July 31, when Voyager will provide an update.
Speaking about the future of SAA Voyager as a loyalty programme, the BRPs said: “Subject to all conditions being met as per the published SAA BRP, Voyager Miles will be available to members for accrual and redemptions amongst the remaining 63 Voyager programme partners.”
They added that the expiry date of all Nedbank co-branded credit and cheque cardholders’ Companion Tickets would be extended by an additional year, due to the global travel restrictions.
