SOUTH African Airways is to
introduce its new Airbus A350-
900 on the daily direct service
between Johannesburg and
New York.
The airline is supplementing
its existing long-haul fleet with
the new aircraft, which has
246 economy-class seats, with
the first six rows offering extra
leg-room. Business-class seats
recline to lie-flat beds.
The aircraft is state of the
art, offering the latest safety
features, a quieter cabin and a
modern inflight entertainment
system.
The A350 is expected to
reduce SAA’s fuel burn on
the route by up to 20%,
contributing to significantly
reduced operational costs and
improved carbon emissions.
Tlali Tlali, head of department:
Media Relations at SAA told
TNW: “The intention is improve
our overall performance on
the route by focusing on
reduced operating costs. We
know what the causes of the
financial bleed are and we are
addressing them.”
The flight schedule is as
follows:
Flight SA203 departs
Johannesburg at 21h00,
arriving in New York at 06h40
the following day.
Flight SA 204 departs New
York at 11h15, arriving in
Johannesburg the following day
at 08h05.
