PREMIER Hotels & Resorts is
looking to expand its national
footprint across most of South
Africa’s major cities while providing a
premier product to guests, says md,
Samuel Nassimov.
New-builds form part of its
investment programme, with the
hotel chain investing R90m in a
three-star hotel in Bloemfontein
and R380m to construct a fourstar Premier Hotel and three-star
Splendid Inn in Umhlanga.
Additional investments include
construction of a four-star hotel in
Fourways and another Premier Hotel
in Thohoyandou, Limpopo.
Premier Hotels & Resorts is also
investing heavily in improving hotels
across its portfolio.
Premier Resort Cutty Sark in
Scottburgh closes from end-May
for a R65m upgrade to its 56 seafacing rooms and public areas whilst
adding 50 more rooms, leisure
facilities and new conferencing
amenities for up to 400 delegates,
amongst other developments.
Premier Hotel The Richards in
Richards Bay is also set for a R35m
improvement that will revamp the
public areas, dining rooms and
restaurants while constructing a
new conference venue for up to
650 delegates. The Splendid Inn
Bayshore, also in Richards Bay, has
seen an upgrade to its rooms, soft
furnishings and décor elements.
Over the last 18 months, Premier
Hotels & Resorts has invested
over R300m to improve standards
and facilities, including Premier
Resort Sani Pass, Premier Resort
The Moorings and Premier Resort
Mpongo Private Game Reserve.
Premier Hotel OR Tambo is due
for a R7m transformation that will
include an innovative solar energy
programme. Premier Hotels &
Resorts’ East London properties will
undergo renovations too.
The group recently announced
the purchase of the Faircity Hotel
Group subject to due diligence and
Competition Commission approval.
This will add a further 535 rooms to
Premier’s existing portfolio of over
2 000 rooms.
