New guest experiences at Knysna property
GUESTS at St James Country House Hotel in Knysna can now
enjoy 90 minute cruises on the Knysna Lagoon and on-site
massages. The cruise goes upriver to the Belvidere and the
White bridge section of the lagoon, previously only accessible
by private boat. On-site massages allow guests an additional
opportunity to relax, without leaving the property. The St James
is 2,8km from Knysna town centre and the Knysna Waterfront.
Mandarin Oriental opens new Beijing hotel
THE Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing has opened on the upper
floors of WF Central, a premium lifestyle retail centre in Beijing.
It features 73 rooms and suites, two restaurants and a rooftop
bar, both with direct access to a garden terrace. Café Zi features
pan-Asian cuisine while Mandarin Grill + Bar focuses on classic
dishes. MO bar serves cocktails and features an international DJ.
Other facilities include a spa, an indoor lap pool and gym.
Aerotel to open in Heathrow T3
AEROTEL, the short-stay hotel brand by airport services provider,
Plaza Premium Group, will open soon at Heathrow’s Terminal 3.
Aerotel London has 82 rooms equipped with showers, TVs and
free WiFi. The rooms can accommodate up to four people and
guests are provided with pillow options, wake-up call service and
access to the 24/7 library lounge, which offers food and drinks.
Customers can pay for anything between six and 24 hours in the
room.
Radisson Residences opens in Istanbul
THE Radisson Hotel Group is set to open Radisson Residences
Vadistanbul. The newly built property consists of 169 apartments
split equally between one- and two-bedroom apartments, and
two four-bedroom apartments. Other facilities include a gym,
spa and swimming pool. The hotel is located in Vadistanbul,
a residential area on the north side of Istanbul, near Maslak,
one of the main business districts. Vadistanbul has a monorail
system, shopping mall, 270 retail outlets and offices. The hotel
is 20 minutes’ drive from the new Istanbul Airport and 400m
from the nearest exit of the Trans-European motorway.
Construction starts at Canada’s first Club Med
CONSTRUCTION at Club Med Québec Charlevoix, Canada’s
inaugural Club Med resort, has begun. The 4-Trident resort will
feature 302 family and couple rooms, including an Exclusive
Collection space comprising suites with views of the St Lawrence
River. The resort will be less than an hour and a half from Jean
Lesage International Airport in Québec City. Activities will include
skiing, ice-skating, dog sledding and sugar shack visits where
visitors can learn about maple syrup production, as well as
biking activities and hiking throughout the summer and autumn.
Corporate bookings are now open for a minimum two-night stay,
starting from its grand opening in December 2020.
Marriott opens largest ever Residence Inn
MARRIOTT has opened the Residence Inn Calgary Downtown/
Beltline District, the largest hotel in the brand’s global portfolio.
The property has 390 studio and one-bedroom suites featuring
fully equipped kitchens. Facilities include a complimentary
grocery delivery service, daily hot breakfast, a 24-hour market,
a communal laundry room and a 24-hour, two-level state-ofthe-art fitness facility. A wine bar will open soon. For business
travellers, a meeting space of 605sqm with built-in multimedia
technology can accommodate groups of up to 175.
KZN hotel goes independent
THE Riverside Hotel in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, is now
independent, after being part of the Three Cities Group and,
more recently, aha, for the past 20 years. The four-star, fullservice hotel has 169 rooms and suites, conference facilities, a
day spa, hair salon, café and cocktail bar. Keith Bentley, gm
of the hotel, says: “The changes in our management structure
allow for greater autonomy and consequently a more focused
approach to the highest levels of service and a quicker response
to enquiries.” All current rates and reservations will be honoured
by the hotel.
