Following a notice circulated by Etihad last week Thursday, June 6, advising its clients that from June 10 (yesterday), there would be delays to processing times for arrivals and departures at OR Tambo due to the implementation of a new biometrics system, it has now been confirmed that is not going ahead.
An Acsa source has told Travel News that the biometrics system was yet to be implemented.
“The biometrics system falls under the Department of Home Affairs. Consequently, we have engaged with the Border Management Authority (BMA) to verify the authenticity of this notice. We have been informed by the BMA that the information is incorrect,” confirmed a spokesperson for Acsa.
Travel News will provide further details as soon as more information becomes available.
