TRAVELLERS to Mthatha
are faced with significant
challenges, as flights to the
Eastern Cape town have been
halted.
Airlink and SA Express have
suspended operations to
Mthatha, following the South
African Civil Aviation Authority’s
downgrading of the airport due
to safety concerns.
For the time being, travellers
to and from Mthatha will
have to fly to East London
and hire a car to drive three
hours on hazardous roads
to reach the town.
The airlines are refunding
passengers for flights.
