Boutique Mozambican hotel group Azura Retreats has announced that Azura Marlin Beach, a luxury villa resort on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, will open in May 2025.
Azura Marlin Beach is the product of an extensive rebuild of the island’s original Marlin Lodge, which suffered a fire at the end of 2012 and has been closed since.
Located on the southwest shore of Benguerra, the property will feature 10 luxury villas in three room categories:
-
Six 100sqm double Beach Villas with king-sized beds and space for one child
-
Three 132sqm Beach Villas Grande with additional space for two children
-
The 380sqm Villa Vista accommodating up to four guests in two bedrooms.
All of the villas are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms, private decks, day beds and loungers. Additionally, Villa Vista has its own private pool.
The main lodge area has a swimming pool, restaurant, lounge bar, extensive outdoor relaxation areas, PADI 5 Star dive centre, souvenir shop and massage pavilion.
Available activities include world-class snorkelling and diving on the island’s Two-Mile Reef, sailing in traditional dhows, remote beach picnics and deep-sea fishing. Guests also have access to the full-service spa at the nearby Azura Benguerra Island.
