A new service connecting Mombasa and Zanzibar is due to launch soon, operated by Marifly Air Service, a brand owned by African Express Airways, a Somali-owned Kenyan airline. No set start date has been confirmed as yet.
Flights will be on Mondays and Fridays, with the intention of adding an extra flight on Wednesdays early next year. They will be operated with the 50-seat Bombardier CRJ-200 and the 150-seat MD-82.
“Facilitating transportation between Mombasa and Zanzibar will be mutually beneficial to the two tourism destinations, strengthening tourism, cultural and trade links,” says Marifly Air Service Commercial Director, Sam Omondi.
He says the new flight intends to serve the people of Kenya and Tanzania, as well as international guests who want to sample the attractions of the two destinations.
