TRAVEL agents booking
Kenya Airways on
Amadeus can now book,
price and issue tickets for
chargeable seats.
The airline opened sales
for chargeable seats at KQ
direct offices in November
last year. It is now working
with Travelport and Sabre
to activate this functionality
on the respective GDSs and
hopes to roll this out in April.
David Van Den HeeverLiebenberg, Marmalade
Toast travel director, says
there
is demand from travellers
for chargeable seats and
being able to book these
through the GDS is a lot
more convenient.
He says, while leisure
clients are often more
budget conscious, frequent
corporate travellers are
willing to pay more.
“Corporate travellers do
not want to get to the airport
and find that they are seated
in the middle at the back. If
they know that they can pay
more for the seat they want,
they would rather pay.”
