Visa Facilitation Services (VFS) Global has expanded its services in South Africa with an Italy visa application centre in Cape Town, launched on March 1 and inaugurated by Emanuele Pollio, Italian Consul in Cape Town.
The other centres for Italian visas are in Johannesburg, Durban, and Pretoria. VFS says it intends to open another Italy visa centre in Port Elizabeth at an unspecified date.
Travellers must book an appointment to submit their applications at the centres, which are open from 09h00 to 12h00, Monday to Thursday.
According to Travelinfo, South Africans are currently prohibited from travelling to Italy as tourists until March 5. This does not apply to travellers who have a long-term residence permit or a long-term ‘D’ visa issued by Switzerland or an EEA (European Economic Community) Member State, family members of nationals and residents of Switzerland or an EEA Member State, or unmarried partners of residents in Italy.
