ITA Airways has announced its new Plane+Train product in partnership with Accesrail.
Passengers can now book their plane and rail journeys with one combined ticket, allowing them to travel between multiple cities within Europe from the main train stations in Italy.
Train companies that form part of the Accesrail partnership with ITA Airways include Trenitalia in Italy; Renfe in Spain; North East Railway, Great Western Railway, National Express, and Avanti West in the United Kingdom; SNBC and Thalys in Belgium; and SBB Swiss Railways in Switzerland.
The combined ticket can be purchased with a single transaction on the airline’s website or mobile application, from the ITA ticket offices at the airport, or from the customer service centre.
Travellers who have purchased a combined ticket will need to check in for both the train and air portions of their journeys. They can check in for the train portion via the Accesrail website. Alternatively, there is a dedicated check-in desk at Fiumicino Station, which can be used by all ITA Airways passengers who have a combined train-air ticket, except for those travelling directly to the USA and Israel.
Passengers will also need to collect their own luggage at the connecting station or airport as it will not be automatically transferred.
