Istanbul is now the world’s “most connected airport”, boasting operations to 309 destinations, according to aviation analytics site, cirium.com.
When it comes to direct connections, the Turkish hub is followed by three well-known European airports: Frankfurt (296), Paris Charles de Gaulle (282) and Amsterdam (270) in fourth place, a spot it shares with Chicago O’Hare, reports Travel Tomorrow.
London Heathrow was knocked off the top 10 list by Dubai International, which placed fifth with 269 connections. Last year, Heathrow was in eighth place, however this year it fell by four places to 12th place on Cirium’s list.
The top 10 airports with the most direct international destinations served are:
