Only two weeks after the announcement by El Al that it would resume services between Tel Aviv and Johannesburg, the airline has had to put those plans on ice.
It has now announced that with the exception of the flight from Tel Aviv to Johannesburg on May 6 and the flight from Johannesburg to Tel Aviv on May 8, all flights between the two countries are cancelled until the end of May.
This is due to the Israeli government’s COVID-19-related restrictions for passengers travelling to or from South Africa,
The airline says it will keep monitoring the situation and will resume flights to South Africa as soon as the restrictions are removed.
