Fujita Kanko opened its Hakone Kowakien Hotel in Hakone, between Mount Fuji and Lake Ahinoko, famed for its hot springs.
Hakone is about 90 minutes by car or train from the centre of Tokyo. It is home to various hot-spring facilities, including the Yunessun theme park and Mori no Yu spa facilities.
The new, 150-room resort allows access to indoor and outdoor hot-spring water baths, as well as to the two hot springs in the resort compound. The seven outdoor hot spring baths on the top floor offer a panoramic view of the natural surroundings, and include a restaurant and children’s area. There also is a multi-purpose area with co-working spaces for business travellers.
Resort guests are given free access to the theme park known for its novelty wine baths, coffee baths, camping and amusement zones, as well as to Mori no Yu, which has relaxing hot spring features.
