FlyNamibia spreads its wings

From April 4, 2024, FlyNamibia, Airlink's franchise partner, will operate a new service between Windhoek (WDH) and Victoria Falls (VFA), facilitating round-trip multi-destination travel in Southern Africa.

Travellers will be able to fly direct between iconic tourist destinations such as Cape Town, central Namibia, Victoria Falls and Kruger Park, all on a single ticket.

The new route, and others that will follow, will reduce travel time by offering travellers more interconnected routes, allowing them to avoid taking circuitous routings through en-route hub airports, making business and leisure travel more efficient.

The WDH-VFA route will be operated by FlyNamibia's 50-seat Embraer 145 aircraft and fall under Airlink's 4Z flight code.

“Our partnership strategy with FlyNamibia is to maximise the opportunity to establish Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport as a gateway to other regional destinations. The new Windhoek-Victoria Falls route is the first manifestation of this, and we expect to announce more in the coming weeks and months. It also creates opportunities for our partners in the travel and tourism sector to offer new itineraries,” said Airlink CEO and MD, Rodger Foster.

The flights are available in the GDS, making them available to global travel source markets.

The seamless single-ticket itineraries, which include more than one flight, will provide travellers with greater security in the event of an interruption.

"By connecting Windhoek and Victoria Falls, under this agreement, FlyNamibia is creating new opportunities for tourists and business travellers. With this route, FlyNamibia will stimulate tourism while also fostering trade, commerce and broader economic activity between Namibia and Zimbabwe," explained André Compion, MD of FlyNamibia.

Flight 4Z8135 will depart from WDH at 10h15 and arrive in VFA at 11h45 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Flight 4Z8136 will depart from VFA at 12h45 and arrive in WDH at 14h15 on the same days.
