Fastjet Zimbabwe will start services between Victoria Falls and Maun from mid-year.
The services will commence on Thursday, June 30, and tickets are already on sale.
The schedule will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
FN 8901 departs Vic Falls at 10h30 and arrives Maun at 11h25. Return flight FN 8902 departs Maun at 13h30 and arrives in Vic Falls at 14h20.
The airline said the route would facilitate more travel between the tourism capitals of Zimbabwe and Botswana. Maun is the uncontested ‘tourism capital’ of Botswana. It has developed into a hub for guests of Botswana’s safari industry and is considered the gateway to the Okavango.
Fastjet has a flexible booking change policy offering unlimited free changes, which, it says, “in addition to our unrivalled Flexi-Go offer and generous international baggage allowance, continues to draw positive experiences with our valued customers”.
Last year, fastjet announced the introduction of direct flights from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) in Nelspruit, from March 16, 2022. This service will commence with three flights a week until July 2022 when it will increase to a daily service.
The introduction of the Maun and KMIA flights is significant for tourism in southern Africa and particularly the inbound market, as these routes unlock more possibilities and more flexibility for inbound tour operators’ itineraries and tourists’ travel plans, linking Victoria Falls, one of the great tourism icons of the world, with Maun, the gateway to the Okavango, and KMIA, the gateway to Kruger National Park and its surrounding reserves and lodges.
