Eurostar is to launch Eurostar Snow to offer sustainable routes to popular ski slopes.
The service will ferry passengers between London and the French Alps starting from December 16. The service will run until February 4, connecting Lille with the mountains of southeast France, reports euronews.com.
After taking the train from London St Pancras to Lille in France, passengers can switch to the Bourg-Saint-Maurice service, calling at Chambéry, Albertville, Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-Les-Bains and Aime-la-Plagne along the way.
The Eurostar Snow will offer services departing every Saturday during winter and returning every Sunday.
Standard tickets from London to the slopes start from £99 (R2 400) each way during off-peak season (January 13 to February 4) and £149 (R3 610) during peak season (December 16 to January 7).
Tickets include an allowance of two large bags and one piece of hand luggage, plus one pair of skis or one snowboard in a protective case. There are no liquid restrictions on the train.
The Bourg-Saint-Maurice in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is home to Les Arcs, Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne. From the town’s train station, regular coaches ferry passengers to neighbouring ski resorts including Val Thorens, Val d’Isère, Courchevel, La Tania, Tignes, Meribel and Les Menuires.
Courchevel has many five-star hotels and Michelin-star restaurants, and Les Menuires and La Tania offer more affordable options. For more events and nightlife, passengers can go to Val Thorens.
