Ethiopian Airlines and CemAir are implementing an interline agreement that will allow passengers to travel seamlessly with a single ticket between points within the carriers’ networks.
“Ethiopian Airlines is a strong partner and, with the significant changes in the South African airline industry, we look forward to working closely with it as we expand our network both domestically and beyond,” said CemAir ceo, Miles van der Molen.
Ethiopian Airlines regional manager Southern Africa, Abel Alemu, said the partnership with CemAir was a testament to Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to service its extensive network across Africa and beyond.
“We foresee the post-COVID airline environment placing a greater emphasis on partnerships, and adding CemAir to our list of partners would give impetus to synergy,” said Abel.
He also confirmed that Ethiopian Airlines was committed to keep its scheduled flights to South Africa, even through this extraordinarily difficult time. The carrier currently operates double-daily flights from Johannesburg and five flights a week from Cape Town.
“We are trying our level best to maintain current frequencies so that the public will have an option to travel under strict health protocols and guidelines,” he added.

It is especially good to see new players in this market emerge at a time when SAA and SAX are still out of the picture and ongoing schedule changes continue to disrupt the market,” commented Travel Counsellor, Ronel Blom.
