A TRAVEL Advisor (TAdvsr)
designation has been
added to the Asata
Professional Programme.
This is the second
professional designation
and follows the roll-out
of the Travel Practitioner
(TPrac) designation. Both
are recognised by South
African Qualifications
Authority (SAQA).
The TAdvsr designation
is available to travel
agents who have a
minimum grade 12 or
equivalent NQF Level 4
qualification; a minimum
of five years’ experience
in the travel industry; and
a GDS qualification.
To receive the
designation, agents need
to register on the APP
database, setting up a
profile that includes any
formal qualifications,
workshops, educationals,
webinars and the
like, which they have
completed. Thereafter,
agents apply for the
designation, which will be
approved pending a multiverification process.
The TAdvsr designation
is valid for three years,
during which the required
Continuous Professional
Development point
accumulation of 60 points
must be achieved and
maintained. CPD points
can be accumulated by
completing workshops
and courses and going on
educationals.
Agents with the
designation can
distinguish themselves
by adding TAdvsr to their
email signatures and on
their business cards.
Asata is the only
national travel industry
body that has been
accredited by SAQA as
a professional body and
which can award a travel
consultant a designation.
The registration fee for
Asata members is R250
and R650 for the TAdvsr
designation. Non-Asata
members pay R350 and
R900 respectively.
