‘Contactless Stay’, a quality mark in technology for the international hotel industry, has been introduced to South Africa to support the country’s health and safety measures.
The system was developed by RoomRaccoon, a hotel management software company, and provides hoteliers with a quality mark to display on websites, social media and buildings, provided all digital protocols are met.
“RoomRaccoon is relatively new to the South African market. It is an innovative cloud-based software solution for hotels, B&Bs, lodges and holiday homes supporting more than 1 200 businesses in 45 countries across the globe,” said RoomRaccoon country manager for South Africa, Niels Verspui.
The technical requirements for the Contactless Stay mark of quality are online check in and payment options, a contactless key, and the ability to book extras such as a corona kit or limit housekeeping services through the online check-in process.
The RoomRaccoon software allows those features and more. Guests can book their stay, check in, request upgrades and, in some instances, order room service directly from their smart phones before they’ve even travelled. In the wake of COVID-19 this contactless experience is a solution to many health and safety protocols.
“To accelerate recovery in the months ahead, hoteliers need to be fully committed to putting staff and guests’ well-being first, through safety and security protocols,” said Niels. “The Contactless Stay quality mark encourages the use of technology for safe, seamless and touchless travel to help redesign processes and operations in all possible touchpoints; to ultimately support a new vision for global tourism and help it to recover with confidence.”
Niels has signed more than 200 accommodations in South Africa to RoomRaccoon’s all-in-one contactless system.
