DELTA has bought a 20%
stake in Latam Airlines,
which will “offer the
greatest connectivity
between North and
Latin America, with 435
destinations worldwide,”
Latam said in a statement.
As a result, Latam has
left the oneworld alliance.
Until Latam’s official exit
from the alliance, all full
customer benefits will still
apply, oneworld said in a
statement.
“Any related news will be
communicated through our
agency portal: latamtrade.
com,” the airline said.
Meanwhile, American
Airlines has suspended
new Latam codeshare
bookings. The suspension
only blocks new sales,
but where customers
wish to make changes
to an existing itinerary
involving a codeshare
flight operated by Latam,
the airline will rebook
the customer on an
American Airlines flight
that services that market,
American Airlines said in
a statement. The airline
plans to wind down
remaining agreements with
Latam over the next few
months
