Cyprus plans to resolve technical issues and join the Schengen Area by the end of 2025.
This is according to Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, who was speaking at the ‘Beyond Sea and Sun’ tourism conference, according to local publication Ekathimerini.
The President said Cyprus and Ireland were the only EU member states that were still not part of the Schengen area, due to their lack of land borders with the EU. He believes Cyprus’s inclusion will be good for tourism and investments.
He said a dedicated team at the foreign ministry were overseeing the process.
